Scope of CollectionIncludes Goodwin's field journals, Apache language dictionary, and water color illustrations. Also includes secondary notebooks with subject compilations, probably by Janice Goodwin.

HistoryBorn in South Hampton, Long Island, New York in 1907. Came to Arizona to attend the Mesa Verde Ranch School. In 1927 he lived with an Anglo family in Geronimo near San Carlos, where he began learning the Apache language and compiling a dictionary. Goodwin died in 1940.
